Mike fills Golf Life in on the Stack and Tilt Swing method. Known on tour as the Swing Whisperers for their almost mystical ability to help players win (Dean Wilson at the International and Will mackenzie at Reno-Tahoe were the other two first-time winners above), Plummer and Bennett now work with 15 to 20 pros, including 2003 Masters champion Mike Weir and eight-time tour winner Brad Faxon. They were unknown when they coached Aaron Baddeley to his first win, in 2006, but when Badds won again in February, Plummer and Bennett were the hottest teachers in golf. Their secret is a geometry-based swing model that contradicts almost everything being taught in the game today. - Golf Digest Stack and Tilt Innovator Mike |
With the Stack and Tilt golf swing, the majority of your weight is on the leading foot which gives you more control as the club hits the ground. Less weight is shifted to the back leg, so it remains straight. This means fewer topped shots because the weight forward makes the approach to the golf ball steeper and the swing is flat and more rotational. At Break point number five, we find Mike Bennett and Bob Koch demonstrating the Stack and Tilt golf swing method using the Medicus Dual-Hinge Driver. ========================= Mike Bennett: Another spot where the club will break is break point number five. And Bob broke the club as he went pass impact. If the weight of your body is too far back, go ahead and demonstrate that Bob. If you notice that he is leaning on his right foot there, Beau. Beau: Yep. Mike Bennett: That will cause the club to overtake or break. Which will cause some missed hits. You see that all the time when people are falling back on their right foot as they try and hit the ball. Beau Rials: Ok, Bob. Go ahead. Bob Koch: So I should feel like in the center, to the left? Mike Bennett: Absolutely, more centered. Beau Rials: So you should not be rushing at this point? Mike Bennett: No.. no need to rush. Bob Koch (swings Meicus driver): Oh yeaaa. Beau Rials: Stayed completely intact all the way through. Mike Bennett: Very good. Beau Rials: Again, make or break point number five, it's at the bottom of the swing. Don't rush it. Mike Bennett: Right. Keep the ... Mike Bennett and Bob Koch Stac |
Up until recently, I have been using a long iron off the tee as I just couldn't hit my driver without slicing it OB. I would hit it 170 yards and 40+ yards off to the right! I tried turning the clubface, placing the ball outside my left foot, off a higher tee, using an in-to-out path and rolling over my arms after impact but nothing helped. Now I can hit it straight 80% of the time with a slight draw 270+ yards! Even my 2 iron is going straight! Inspired by my new found technique, I made this tutorial so that others like me could perhaps learn from the knowledge that had illuded me for 10 years! This tutorial is based on the stack and tilt method devised by Andy Plummer and Mike Bennett. If you find this helpful, by their DVD. I have no association with them, but I do owe them some thanks for saving my game. I hope it saves yours too.
