Oxford, NC IDPA Fun Match CDP Division Camo4x4s - 09/19/09 I have been shooting CDP class now for two years on and off. I just shot my first two major IDPA matches in Oxford. I have really come to enjoy the sport. It is a great stress reliever. I have shot about 40 matches in the past 2 years averaging 3rd place overall. Why do you shoot a 1911? I shoot a 1911 because they are classic guns dating back to the year 1911 and it is a disadvantage in competition because it holds fewer rounds which equals more mag changes which ultimately costs you more time and points. Competition shooting is like golf... The lowest score ranks first and the highest score places last. A 1911 also has a greater power factor and a wider diameter bullet if your shooting a .40 or .45 caliber which makes your hits easier to see on the targets. A 1911 is a model gun. It's patent ran out which means there are a wide variety of companies that produce the model 1911. A 1911 is endlessly customizable. You can literally build a 1911 by ordering aftermarket parts. Some of the best 1911 aftermarket parts are made by Caspin. I personally have a custom built 1911 9mm Caspin. In this particular video though, I'm shooting a Springfield Armory .45 caliber 1911. I like Springfield Armory because they come with a lifetime warranty incase you have a major problem with your gun.... send it in.... they will fix it for FREE. This video I talk a little bit about starting a paintball team. Here is my advice- 1) if you have never played on a team, go join someone else team first. You'll learn alot 2) Once you have some tournament experience on someone elses team, then you can start your own 3) First get organized. Team name, website, etc 4) Buy a stack of jerseys that are cheap and on sale. Right now, companies are practically giving away 06 and 07 line jerseys. This is a great, cheap way to start a uniform and looking alike. This shows other people you are serious about your team 5) Start traveling to different fields to recruit players. Have flyers handy with your team name, goals, fees, practice schedule, etc 6) Once you have your core players, make the new players be on probation for 30 days. This will prevent team-hoppers jumping on your team just for tournaments. 7) Show up the field ready to play. Try to finish your practices by noon. Bust your ass hardcore and play hard to get better. 8) Always play teams better than you. You will learn nothing from beating on easy teams. In golf they have a rule "When you suck, play fast". Same in paintball. If a good team is willing to play you, don't fuck around. Get out there ASAP and earn their respect! 9) Paint Pool- every should bring a case of inspected, quality paint to practice, and everyone should just grab paint from the paint pool. 11 players = 11 cases of paint.
